Troubleshooting Stock Quotes

Postby gc_rjauregui » 05/18/2009 9:06 pm

Lately, as more and more users are trying out Stock Quotes, they are having issues getting the code working. I will be compiling general troubleshooting steps to help future users get the code working, beyond the support found within the README.txt located in the download.

This post is also a work in progress, we will update as needed and time permits.

1. Making Sure ionCube Loaders are Installed:

The first step is to make sure the ionCube loaders are installed correctly, if they are not, nothing will work.

  1. Download a ionCube Loader pacakge
  2. Unzip the files to your desktop
  3. Upload "ioncube/ioncube-encoded-file.php" and "ioncube/ioncube-loader-helper.php"
  4. In your browser, open "http://yourwebserver.tld/ioncube-loader-helper.php"
  5. If ioncube is installed correctly, you will see a "Success" message.

    1. If this is the case, open "http://yourwebserver.tld/ioncube-encoded-file.php"
    2. A message should read: "This file has been successfully decoded. ionCube Loaders are correctly installed."
    3. This means that ionCube is working correctly, and your issue may lie elsewhere.
  6. If ionCube is not installed correctly, you may follow the steps on the helper page to rectify the issue. NOTE: More often than not, your webhost can install or activate the loaders for you.

If you need support, please create a new topic. You may, however say thanks or post your tips and tricks not included in this post.
Best Regards,

Re: Troubleshooting GC Stock Quotes Pro

Ryan,

Thanks for your help with setting up GC Quote Pro on our website. We couldn't be happier with it! Easy html customization makes it look just the way we want. We had been looking for this exact solution. The further clarification for setting up the ioncube loaders is spot on. That's a little tricky if you haven't done it before.

Thanks again!
